Melbourne Cup/Calcutta

This years Calcutta saw an increase in the first prize pool by including a percentage of the auction bids. Over 100 people came for the auction and were treated to a another great night hosted by our auctioneer Tim Gossage who kept the crowd on their toes. Congratulations to Cedric Smith and his team of helpers for running a great night.

On Melbourne Cup day we had another 100 people for lunch and some frivolities including our horse race, a hat making competition by some of our men, sliding gold coin to win a bottle of whiskey and sweeps. Congratulations to Linda & Charlie Davis and all their helpers for putting on a good show.

Apart from our sweep winners, the big winners of the Calcutta were announced. They were;

First Prize:     Lesley Dewar – $3,275

Second Prize:  Stephen Meagher  – $500

Third Prize:     Les Carbon – $150

Fourth Prize:   Maggie Newton – $50
